N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Jamestown native Jon Wayne’s music career took off in the summer of 2008 and he never looked back.

But just as it was taking off, his life was falling apart.

Wayne and his band Jon Wayne and the Pain have become known for their innovative band that has been building a dedicated Midwest loyal fan base. During his quick rise to fame, Wayne struggled with addiction to heroin, cocaine, alcohol and a host of other drugs. His journey to sobriety has now been chronicled in a biography titled “One More Trip: Jon Wayne’s Journey,”

“As he begins his newfound sobriety, he knows getting clean has to stick this time because it’s no longer a choice of whether or not to get high; it’s a choice of life or death,” it reads.

Jon’s story is told by author Thom Wilder, showing the inspirational tale of Wayne’s moment of truth in overcoming addiction, chancing his life, correcting his mistakes and making amends.

Arts Center Executive Director Larry Kopp says Wayne called him and asked to bring his book and acoustic show to Jamestown.

“A chronicle of growing up on the North Dakota plains, One More Trip also serves as a sober warning of the dangers of drug abuse and a handbook for a life of recovery in a drug-prone work zone,” the book says.

On Sunday, November 26th, Wayne and Wilder will be in Jamestown at the Arts Center for an acoustic set by Jon and a celebration of his hometown with his biography. The concert will be at 7 PM and tickets will be $10 for members and $15 for non-members.
