JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – What started out as just something to do has turned into a large fundraiser for the Jamestown Regional Medical Center’s Home Hospice Care program.

Created by Don Wegner 12 years ago, the event has raised thousands of dollars and has had great community support.

In 2017, the event raised around $12,000 through the raffles, chili feed and plank walk. The event has grown so popular that a group got together to create a “pirate ship” where participants jump off of into the pool that’s warmed up prior to the jump.

Wegner says participants go around and raise money from friends, businesses and organizations for them to jump. He says they show up in costumes and jump for the cause. A lot of local celebrities have jumped too include Jamestown Mayor Katie Anderson and Stutsman County Sheriff Chad Kaiser.

There will also be a chili cook-off/feed as well. The event starts at 9:00 AM on Saturday, February 3rd and walking the plank starts at Noon. Everything will take place at Stutsman Harley Davidson.
