JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The University of Jamestown women’s basketball team is making their seventh straight appearance in the NAIA National Championships after securing an at-large bid. The Jimmies lost the conference championship game to VCSU who reached the tournament, for the second consecutive year, as an automatic qualifier.

Jamestown, seeded 8th-overall and second in their quadrant, will play seventh-seeded Cardinal Stritch at in the opening round at 10:15am on Wednesday of the tournament at the Tyson Event Center in Sioux City, IA.

The Wolves hail from the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference. They are 19-10 on the year and 12-8 in conference play.

These two teams have a bit of national tournament history. In 2014, the top-seeded Jimmies were upset by Cardinal Stritch in the second round. The following year, however, Jamestown returned the favor and knocked off the Wolves to reach the national quarterfinals for the first time in program history.

Should the Jimmies win their opening game, they would get the winner of the 3/6 match-up which features third-seeded Indiana Tech and sixth-seeded Bryan (Tenn.).

Also, in the quadrant with Jamestown, is the team that has ended their season in two of the last three years in the national quarterfinals, the No. 2-overall seeded Concordia (NE) Bulldogs. If both teams win their first two games they would meet again on Saturday in the quarters. The Bulldogs escaped Newman Arena with an overtime win back in November.

The Jimmies were a three-seed when they reached the quarterfinals in 2017 following an 80-67 upset of Davenport (MI).
