CARRINGTON, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Carrington School Board approved of their election results this week.

Carrington Schools Superintendent Brian Duchscherer reports that the votes have been canvassed and approved. They have Kevin Wolsky returning to serve another 3 year term and Tonia Erickson was elected to replace Bruce Bachmeier.

Duchscherer says a meeting with architects and school board members were able to tour the new Elementary School. He says from that tour, they were able to discern that they were behind a bit on construction.

He says there is still a lot to do in the month of July to prepare for the fall school year. Some of that includes moving desks and equipment from the old Elementary school.

Duchscherer says other contractors will still be working with the school board to get some of the electronics and maintenance done within the new facility. He says there’s a lot of exterior work to be done, but their confident they’ll be in there before the school year.

In the gymnasium work, Duchscherer says they haven’t yet set down the hardwood floor. He says the contractor wants to have it climate controlled before he does any work, which is scheduled to begin by June 25th. He says they hope to begin holding volleyball practice in there once it’s complete.

As far as plans on the old Elementary building, Duchscherer says they’ve conducted asbestos testing for up-to-date documents. He says they expect a better evaluation before they decide to tear it down or sell it.

In other school board news, the School Board will be looking at bus maintenance this year on one of their rigs. They have also approved the new handbook.
