VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com)- Jacob Johnson’s 11 strikeouts propelled Valley City Post 60 to a 6-1 win against Devils Lake Wednesday night at Charlie Brown Field. Devils Lake won the 5 inning game 3-1 to earn a split on the day.

Game 1: Valley City 6 vs. Devils Lake 1

Post 60 collected 11 hits and struck first with 2 runs in the 1st innings. Riley Gerhardt, Riley Miller and Easton Hesch each had 2 hit games and drove in a run. Corey Nelson and Jacob Johnson also produced RBIs.

On the mound Johnson struck out 11 in 6 innings. He kept Devils Lake off the scoreboard while scattering 2 hits.

Game 2: Devils Lake 3 vs. Valley City 1 (5 innings)

Post 60 matched Devils Lake with 6 hits but left 11 runners strained. Cody Abrahamson was 2 for 3 and scored Grady Kargas for Valley City’s only run in the bottom of the 5th.

Conner May started and pitched 3 innings he gave up 3 runs on the 6 hits with 2 strike outs. Devins Anderson worked the final 2 innings, he struck out 2.
