JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The 1883 Stutsman County Courthouse opened their doors Memorial Day to tourist and travelers alike with a new program for the kids.

The Junior Sheriff Program invites kids ages 6 and up to search the courthouse for clues to solve different puzzles, giving them a unique experience while exploring the state’s oldest courthouse.

Site Supervisor Steve Reidburn says they’ve had a few kids come through already and have really enjoyed it.

While kids do that, the adults can explore the history and renovations at the courthouse. Once the kids complete the puzzles, they’re then swore in as Stutsman County Junior Sheriffs.

The badge is designed with 1883 Stutsman County Courthouse, Junior Sheriff written on it and in the middle is the building’s rose window.

The courthouse will also be hosting musical events all summer. Terry and Linda Schwartz will perform June 23rd and Timothy Bratton will perform on June 30th. Both concerts start at 1 PM and are free to the public.

Reidburn says the courtroom provides the perfect setting for acoustic sets.
