JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – A Jamestown High School Sophomore has come up with a plan to help kids in the area who are hungry this summer.

Annika Tweten came up with the idea to provide a lunch time service project for kids in the area and was inspired by the Kids Against Hunger drive. She says after doing some research, she found that a lot of kids in North Dakota and Jamestown go hungry every day.

Tweten says they’ve teamed up with Hugo’s Family Market to get supplies to make sandwiches for her cause. She says right now they would love more volunteers and donations of items that can be put inside the lunches.

Tweten has served lunches at Washington School and the Hansen Arts Park. She says volunteers would allow them to cover more area and give lunches to more people who may need them.

“We will be serving bag lunches every Monday through Friday to whoever wants one from August 6th to the 23rd,” Tweten stated. “We’ll also be meeting at 10 AM every day at Temple Baptist Church in Jamestown to pack the lunches.”
