JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com)- Brennen Neva’s RBI double is the only run support Valley City Saints starter David Whitaker needed Saturday morning at Jack Brown Stadium. The righty held The Cass County Catfish scoreless in a 1-0 state quarterfinal victory.

Whitaker surrendered just 3 hits while collecting 9 strikeouts with the final 2 coming in the biggest moment of the game. Cody Kingsbury led off the top of the 7th with a walk for Cass County and Nick Holm got on with a one out hit. Whitaker struck out the last 2 batters to preserve the win.

Jake VanVacter also had an impressive outing for The Catfish. He limited Valley City to 4 hits with 7 Ks.

Valley City plays in the semifinals Sunday morning at 11am. They face Enderlin who defeated Cass County 4-1 in an elimination game. Winner of plays for the state title at 3pm.
