VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Tonya Duffy is running for the position of Barnes County State’s Attorney.

Duffy’s name wasn’t on the June Primary/Election ballot but North Dakota Century Code has a provision that, if a vacancy is created in the position after the normal filing deadlines to get on the primary, a person can file a petition with the required amount of signatures by the general election filing date and get on the ballot.

Duffy will face Lilie Schoenack, the two will appear on the November 6th general election ballot in Barnes County.

The position opened after Barnes County State’s Attorney Carl Martineck decided not to run for re-election. Martineck will become the next City Attorney for Valley City at the end of 2018.

The following is a news release from Tonya Duffy.
