JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – October is National Physical Therapy Month and the American Physical Therapy Association is encouraging everyone to learn more about physical therapy.

Physical Therapy is the treatment of disease, injury, or deformity by physical methods such as massage, heat treatment, and exercise rather than by drugs or surgery. The month raises awareness of the key role that physical therapists and physical therapy assistants can play in helping people find relief.

Natalie Lonnberg works as a Physical Therapist at the Anne Carlsen Center in Jamestown.

Lonnberg says a lot of her focus at the Anne Carlsen Center is with pediatrics, but she does a lot of what other physical therapists do.

Something that a physical therapist needs to do is work with other forms of therapy to bring the best care they can to a client. Kris Nitschke is the group leader of the therapy department at the Anne Carlsen Center.
