BISMARCK, N.D. (NDDoH) – Beginning the morning of October 29, the North Dakota Department of Health (NDDoH) Division of Medical Marijuana will begin accepting qualifying patient and designated caregiver applications.

Instructions related to applications can be found on the Division of Medical Marijuana’s website at www.ndhealth.gov/MM/.

“The Division is excited to announce the application date for patients and caregivers as it brings us one step closer to patients being able to purchase and use products under the Medical Marijuana Program,” stated Jason Wahl, director of the Division of Medical Marijuana. “Knowing the date in advance will give qualifying patients and designated caregivers the opportunity to review required information needed for the application.”

“In addition to written application instructions, we are also working on video tutorials,” added Wahl. Video tutorials are expected to be available at the end of the month and will be located on the Division of Medical Marijuana’s website.

Applicants may request assistance in completing the online application from trusted family members or friends, however, caution is advised as social security numbers are a required by state law to be part of the application.

Individuals interested in becoming a registered designated caregiver are required by state law to have a criminal history record check completed upon initial application and every two years thereafter. The Division of Medical Marijuana’s website includes information for designated caregivers on how to obtain a criminal history record check.

“The initial identification cards will be valid for a year. We anticipate cards will be printed and mailed in December closer to the date products are available,” said Wahl.
