LaMoure, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The will be a new State Champ in Class B Volleyball following Linton-HMB’s straight set win over LaMoure-Litchville/Marion in the quarterfinal round of the Region 3 Volleyball tournament in LaMoure. The Loboeshad won the last three state championships.

Napoleon-Gackle-Streeter, Carrington and Oakes also advanced to Tuesday night’s semifinal.

Linton-HMB 3-0 over LaMoure-Litchville/Marion (25-21,26-24,25-21)

The Lions got a double-double from Bailey Hulm and came from behind in set two for a straight set win over the Loboes. L-L/M led 17-12 at one point in the second set, but the Lions would score six points in a row to take an 18-17 lead on the way to the win.

Hulm had 21 set assists and 10 digs. Destiny Wenger and Sadie Bosch each had nine kills. Jaycee Ritcher led the defense with 15 digs followed by Callie Hase with 13, Kylee Gartner with 11 and Teegan Scherr with 8. Hase also had six kills and Taiya Schmidt added 5.

The Loboes were led by Ellie Holen with a near double-double. The junior ended with nine kills and a team high 15 digs. Ashlyn Rode had 10 kills while Allie Hebl added 20 set assists and seven digs. Rain Aberle had 12 digs to help the defense.

The Loboes end the season 26-10. Linton-HMB improves to 28-11.

Oakes 3-1 over Medina-Pingree-Buchanan (25-17, 30-32, 25-17, 25-11)

The Tornadoes won in four over the Thunder to advance. The second set looked like it was going to Oakes who led 24-22. But the Thunder came back with three straight points to go up 25-24. Neither team could get that two point win until Oakes, thinking they tied the set at 31 with a kill from Nicole Schmitz, were called for a back row attacker giving the point to M-P-B for the 32-30 win. But Oakes moved into the semifinals winning the last two sets.

Nicole Schmitz led the way with 17 kills. Marisa Garza had 13 and Sadie Hansen added 45 set assists.

The Thunder were led by Megan Moser with the double-double of 17 kills and 29 digs. Gracie Bohl also had a double-double with 12 assists and 11 digs along with five kills. Alexis Vanderberghe had 25 digs. Dani Eissinger had 13. Callie Mack had nine assists and six digs.

The Thunder end the season 18-16. The Tornadoes improve to 29-7.

Napoleon/Gackle-Streeter 3-0 over Barnes County North (25-15, 25-14, 25-15)

The Imperials of NGS rolled to a 3-0 sweep of the Bison of BCN. The District 6 champs improve to 25-7 overall and will move into Tuesday nights semifinal round. The Bison end their season at 8-18.

Carrington 3-0 over South Border (25-17, 25-16, 25-11)

Junior Bella Hone had 12 kills and two stuff blocks to help the Cardinals defeat the Mustangs of South Border in the second match of the day. Junior Faith Dockter had eight kills for SB. The runner-ups from District 5 improve to 29-8 overall and will move into the first semifinal Tuesday night against Napoleon/GS. The Mustangs end their season at 16-17.
