LAMOURE, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) Day two of the Class B Region 3 High School Volleyball Tourney was held on Tuesday night with two semifinal matches. Here are the results:

Napoleon/Gackle-Streeter 3-2 over Carrington (25-17, 7-25, 25-20, 19-25, 15-9)

Freshman Ashley Schmitt had 10 kills, 28 digs and three aces to help the District 6 champs defeat the runner-ups from District 5. The Cardinals were led by Junior Bella Hone with 21 kills and Senior Kadyn Mehring added 16 kills. The Imperials will make their first Region 3 championship match appearance since 2014.

Oakes 3-0 over Linton/Hazelton-Moffit-Braddock (28-26, 25-22, 25-18)

The District 5 champs defeat the runner-ups from District 6, the Lions of L/HMB in their first and only meeting of 2018. Junior Nicole Schmitz had 15 kills for the Tornadoes, Senior Marisa Garza added 13 kills. Senior Destiny Wenger had nine kills to lead the Lions. The Tornadoes will make their first ever Region 3 championship match appearance, their last region title match appearance was in 2012 when they were part of Region 1. The Tornadoes moved into Region 3 in 2014.

Thursday’s schedule:

5pm – Carrington vs. Linton/HMB (3rd place)

630pm – Oakes vs. Napoleon/GS (championship)

Both matches will be broadcast on Thunder Country 98.3 FM and newsdakota.com starting about 4:40pm pregame, 5pm first serve, with the championship match simulcast on AM 1220 KDDR the Tornado.
