JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Drew Condon scored in the third round of the shootout lifting the Mandan Braves to a 3-2 win over Jamestown in high school boys hockey Friday Night at John L. Wilson Arena.

Tommy Falk gave the Jays the 1-0 lead when he scored an unassisted goal at the 7:24 mark of the first period. It was the first goal of the season for Jamestown.

Carter Berger would tie the score at 1 with 2:32 left in the first period. The Braves doubled up the Jays in shots 8-4 in the period.

The Braves outshot Jamestown 19-9 in the second period and Parker Zander scored the only goal of the period 4:44 into it for a 2-1 Braves lead heading into the final period.

With the extra man on the ice, Jace Thompson tied the game with his first goal of the season on assists from Corey Nelson and Cooper Allen. The two teams play twice more this season, so the coaches decided to take the game to a shootout.

Nelson, Thompson and Falk all missed their opportunities. Drew Condon was the third shooter for Mandan and he did not.

Riley Gerhardt had 30 saves for Jamestown who falls to 0-2 on the season. The Blue Jays travel to Hazen-Beulah today for a 3:30 game.
