BISMARCK, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The cold weather has ice anglers raring to go in North Dakota.

As the temperatures drop, ice begins to form on many rivers and lakes. The North Dakota Game & Fish Department is using this time to remind anglers of ice safety during the winter months. Wildlife Biologist Doug Leier says some of the rules are different during the winter.

Leier says tip-ups are also legal. Some of the other rules anglers need to remember coincide with summer fishing rules

Anglers are encouraged to refer to the 2018-2020 North Dakota Fishing Guide or state Game & Fish Department’s website for winter fishing regulations.

Listen to Doug Leier every Thursday at 7:20 AM with JD in the Morning on Big Dog 95.5 FM.
