CARRINGTON, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) The Cardinals had six players in the scoring column, Junior Seth Nelson led the way with 17 including a three pointer as Carrington wins 58-40 over the Mustangs of Midkota Tuesday night. The Cardinals improve to 1-0 in district five play and 4-5 overall, Midkota drops to 0-1 in district five play and 2-7 overall.

Carrington led 31-16 at halftime, the Mustangs cut the lead to 10 with about three minutes left in the third quarter. Senior McCoy VandeHoven had 13 points and Payton Smith had 11. Freshman Logan Topp led Midkota with 18 and Junior Jory Boote added 11, both players hit three 3-pointers each.

Next up for Carrington will be Friday at Casselton for a boys and girls double header, AM 1600 KDAK the Cardinal and newsdakota.com will have both games starting at 5:45pm pregame with the girls first and boys will follow. Next up for Midkota will be another district five contest in Glenfield against Ellendale.
