JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Salvation Army reports that they fell short of their Christmas fundraising goal in 2018.

Major Tim Nauta says that they were $36,000 short of the $168,000 goal after counting donations from the Red Kettle Campaign and other donations throughout December.

Major Nauta says because they fell short, they are continuing to accept donations as part of the campaign through January 15th. He says if they’re unable to reach their goal, they’ll need to start turning away some of those who are in need of the services they provide.

Nauta says in 2018, they were able to assist around 4,100 cases, many of which involved more than one person. He says the Salvation Army also saw an increase in new individuals in need.

All donations received by then will assist the Jamestown Salvation Army with the entire year of services including heating/renting assistance, disaster relief, food pantry, counseling and more.

The Jamestown Salvation also released the top 4 bell ringing groups for 2018. Kiwanis raised a total of $8,679.22, the Lion’s Club collected $4,095, Newman Signs employees raised $3,621, and RM Stoudt employees raised $1,020.

Donations to the Salvation Army can be brought to 320 1st Avenue North in Jamestown or by going online to salvationarmynorth.org/jamestown.
