JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Arts Center has announced the hiring of Mindi Schmitz as the next Executive Director.
“Mindi joined the team Friday, February 1st and is quickly settling in,” Angela Martini stated. “She may be familiar to many in town as she has been a long-time resident of Jamestown and is very involved in the community.”
Schmitz grew up in Wahpeton and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication from North Dakota State University and a Masters in Leadership from the University of Jamestown. She has been an active member of Jamestown for over 20 years, serving as a Jamestown Public School Board member and recently, the Jamestown Parks & Recreation Commission.
She is also an active member of the American Association of University Women and Rotary International.
“I’m so excited about this opportunity,” Schmitz stated. “The Arts Center is an important part of the fabric of Jamestown, we are so lucky to have these amazing spaces and offer such wonderful programs to our community. I look forward to working with the staff and members to continue to build on the success of The Arts Center.”
Schmitz takes over for former Executive Director Larry Kopp after he announced he would be stepping down to move back to Pennsylvania to care for a family member.
