JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Day two of the District 5 Girls Basketball Tournament saw two tremendous games go down to the wire in a high-energy Saturday of hoops.
Here are the results from day two:
Ellendale 42, Barnes County North 40
With the win, the Ellendale Cardinals ended the season for the Barnes County North Bison after their 42-40 victory on Saturday.
Ellendale trailed by as many as 10 points in the 3rd quarter, but went on a 27-15 run to end the game. The key to the comeback was on defense for the Cardinals. As a unit, they forced a whopping 30 BCN turnovers and held the Bison to just 31% shooting in the 2nd half.

On the other side, Clara Wieland did everything she could for her Bison. She finished with 23 points on 8-12 shooting and recorded 7 steals as well.
Carrington 48, Edgeley-Kulm-Montpelier 38
Both teams struggled offensively in the first half, but Carrington was able to put together a 22 point 3rd quarter to pull away in the first semifinal game.

EKM ended the night shooting 47% from the field after its abysmal start in the first 15 minutes. Maren Berntson, who had to get her ankle taped up, was the Rebels’ leading scorer with 16 points on 7-13 shooting.
LaMoure-Litchville-Marion 62, Oakes 59
LLM got some revenge over the Oakes Tornadoes on Saturday after falling to them in late January.

Oakes ended up erasing its deficit in the 4th quarter to tie the game with around 3 minutes to play, but LLM pulled away thanks to robust free throw shooting down the stretch.
