JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Regional Entrepreneur Center is presenting an opportunity to the region for individuals who are interested in learning more about beginning a brewery and distillery in February.
Dr. Katrina Christiansen, a local agricultural engineer and innovator, will be sharing insights on how to get started to begin, own, and operate a brewery and distillery.
“The agenda will include time for Q&A, being compliant with the industry’s regulatory and food safety regulations, identifying capital, procuring equipment, managing operations, and establishing marketing and sales plans,” JREC Executive Director Katherine Roth reports.
Dr. Christiansen has extensive experience malting and developing novel grain processes.
“She applies her bioprocess engineering background to assist the blooming craft malting industry make safe, consistent products with properties brewers and distiller’s already skilled with new ingredients can harness. She started working in the malting industry as the Pilot Project Lead for Cargill Malt for 4 years,” her bio states.
Dr. Christiansen completed her PhD comparing biofuel crops and production systems at Iowa State University in 2011. She’s also worked as a Plant Engineer at a 60 million gallon biofuel ethanol plant in Nebraska.
The event will be free to the public on February 26th at the University of Jamestown from 6:30 PM to 8 PM in the US Building.
