Phyllis Leysring, 92, of Fargo, ND died on Friday, February 22, 2019 at Essentia Health in Fargo, ND.
Phyllis Elaine (Prodzinski) Leysring was born on Nov. 30 1926 on a farm near Buchanan to Edward and Louise (Degan) Prodzinski and attended rural schools. She graduated from Kensal High School in 1944. She attended Fargo Business College and worked for Warner Insurance and at the Veteran’s hospital in Fargo but returned to the family farm after her mother’s death.
Phyllis married Leslie Leysring on June 1st 1951. Leslie was a Standard Oil Bulk Agent in Cleveland, ND where they lived for 41 years. Phyllis worked as a postal clerk in Cleveland for 20 years and was a member of the City Council for 12 years before becoming Mayor of Cleveland for 8 years. She was a member of the VFW Auxillary for 67 years. She enjoyed going to her children’s ball games, sewing, gardening, dancing, playing cards, bowling, and travelling after her husband passed in March 1982 and she retired. After retirement, she volunteered at local hospitals in Jamestown and Bismarck and was a member of the Red Hat Society.
She is survived by her son Kent (Sylvia) Leysring and daughter Lori (Lynn) Laraway. Grandchildren Jade (Tayler) Leysring, Andrea (Eric) Edwardson, Staci (Andrew) Cole. Step grandchildren Garrett (Shelby) Wahl, Lacey (Don) Lange, Sean Laraway, Connor Laraway and Landon Mormando. Great grandchildren Brayden and Blake Wahl, Kenley Lange, and Oliver Edwardson.
She was preceded by her parents, husband, brother Richard and sister Lorraine Shwartz.
