VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Colorado Jack popcorn is being manufactured at the Open Door Center in Valley City.
Owners Kim and Brian Engstom reached an agreement a year ago thanks to the efforts of Open Door Center director Mary Simonson. Kim Engstrom said the company has been making and packaging the popcorn in Valley City for more than three months.
Brian and Kim’s son Cullen has a disability, he will be moving to Valley City and working at the Open Door Center. Brian said after they learned that two other businesses were manufacturing their products in Valley City that’s how the ball got rolling on this project.
Back in 2016, the Open Door Center expanded employment opportunities for their clients thanks to the expansion of two businesses Thunderbird Ranch Gourmet Foods and Amberland Dakota Seasonings and with the addition of Colorado Jack Popcorn they now have three manufacturing businesses centered in Valley City.
