JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Jamestown dropped 59 points on Southeastern (Fla.) in the second half as they ran away down the stretch in their NAIA opening round win Wednesday morning. Terrell Alfred led the way with a career-high 30 and also pulled down 10 boards.
The Jimmies lead by 14 in the first half, but Southeastern came back to cut the deficit to three before half. A pair of Kevin Oberweiser triples pushed the lead to eight into the break. He hit five of them in the first half.
In the second twenty minutes, Jamestown used a 20-7 run to take control midway through the half. Eventually building their lead to as high as 25.
Jack Frazier came onto the floor a few minutes into the second half and didn’t leave until the game was well in hand. He handled the Southeastern dribble-drive and shut down the Fire.
The win pushes Jamestown into the second round where they will play Spring Arbor (Mich.) of the Crossroads League. The Cougars defeated Indiana Tech 85-50 in the first game of the day.
