MINOT, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) The first day of the 2019 North Dakota State Class B Boys Basketball Tournament was held at the Minot State Dome, here are the results:
No. 2 Bismarck Shiloh 54 Beulah 46
No. 3 Richland 65 Powers Lake 63
No. 1 Thompson 58 Ellendale 49
The number one seeded Tommies of Thompson led for most of the game as they knock off the Cardinals of Ellendale in the quarterfinals. The Tommies are making their first ever state tournament appearance. For Ellendale, it’s their second appearance in three years. The Tommies were led Cadyn Schwabe with 23 points, followed by Hayden Overby with 14. Ellendale was led by Austin Molan with 23, Scott Wagner with 18 points and 13 rebounds. The Cardinals shot 55% from the field, Thompson just 38%.
No. 4 Minot Ryan 62 No. 5 New Rockford/Sheyenne 56
The Rockets led by one point with about five minutes left in the second quarter, but that would be the only lead NR-S would have the entire game. They were down by as many as 12 points in the second half, would close the gap to two points in the fourth quarter but that would be as close as they would get against the Lions of Minot Bishop Ryan. Senior Teddy Allmaras led the Rockets with 16 points, including three 3-pointers, he would foul out of the contest with about two minutes left. Junior Hunter Thompson added 14 and Senior Tucker Longnecker had 12. Senior Guard and Mr. Basketball finalist, Ben Bohl led the Lions with 29 points, including four 3-pointers, three in the fourth quarter that were well beyond the arc. Mason Hedberg added 21 and Jason Feller had 10.
