JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – For the second time in the three year history of the University of Jamestown Men’s hockey program,  a trip to the National Tournament was achieved.

Thanks to another strong second half of the season, a 12-4-1 record after the first of the year, the 16th ranked Jimmies will head to the American Collegiate Hockey Association National Tournament for the second year in a row.

The Jimmies will play Robert Morris University out of Illinois in the first round of the tournament on Thursday night at the Comerica Center in Frisco, Texas, the practice facility of the NHL Dallas Stars. The Eagles, who play in the Central State Collegiate Hockey League, head into the tournament with a 17-21 record and ranked #17. They had a four game winning streak snapped last Friday when they lost to Illinois in the CSHSL playoffs.

Jamestown head coach Cole Bell says the teams depth was tested the final week of the regular season.

But Bell says, those that have been out will be back for Nationals.

One of the constants this season has been the play of goaltender Tyson Brouwer. The junior comes into the tournament with a 14-11, a 2.61 goals-against-average and a 925 save percentage. He made 60 saves in a win at Minot State in the second to last game of the year. Bell says Brouwer is a big reason why they are back at Nationals.

With the top seed Lindenwood awaiting the winner, Bell says the message to the team is simple.
