VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – A lot goes into choosing a college, especially for an athlete. Academics, athletics and location, just to name a few. All of these played into the decision of Valley City Hi-Liner’s senior Taryn Dieterle as she made her college choice official Thursday afternoon.

Dieterle will take her talents one mile to the south to Valley City State University. Dieterle verbally committed a week ago, but she made it official at a signing ceremony Thursday afternoon at the Hi-liner Activity Center lobby.

VCSU Head coach Vanessa Keeler-Johnson says Dieterle brings a lot to the program.

Dieterle says three factors went into her decision to play for the Vikings.

Dieterle ended her Hi-Liner career as the fifth leading scorer all-time with 1,1 52 points. She is third all-time in rebounds with 763, fourth in steals (139), third in field goals made (363) and she is first in free throws made (384).

Keeler-Johnson says the 6 foot Dieterle fills a need caused by graduation.

Dieterle finished her senior season averaging a double-double with 19.1 points per game and 11.4 rebounds per contest. The Hi-Liners reached the EDC tournament quarterfinals before losing to West Fargo Sheyenne.
