VALLEY CITY, N.D. (VCSUVikings.com)- Valley City State University moved up one spot to No. 8 in this week’s NAIA Softball Top 25 Coaches’ Poll, announced Tuesday by the national office.

The No. 8 national ranking is the highest in program history, topping the Vikings’ No. 9 ranking back on March 26.

The Vikings are coming off a 3-1 weekend against Bellevue University, which is receiving votes in the Top 25 Poll. Valley City State’s record currently stands at 31-2 overall and 11-1 in conference play. The Vikings have winning streaks of 15 games and 14 games so far this season.

VCSU has the fourth-best winning percentage in the nation, trailing only three teams ranked ahead of them in the poll: No. 1 Science & Arts (39-0), No. 3 Marian (32-0) and No. 6 Lindsey Wilson (27-1).

Valley City State is set to host Viterbo University for a four-game series this weekend in Valley City. Saturday’s doubleheader starts at 1 p.m. and will be Senior Day as the Vikings recognize their three seniors: Tatum Lundin, Kadie Anderson and Voni Culp. Sunday’s doubleheader begins at 11 a.m.
