JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown City Fire Department was called out at around 9:30 AM to a smoking utility pole near the Legacy Center Wednesday morning.

Otter Tail Power Company was also called out. Lt. Sheldon Mohr reports that a crack in the bell at the top of the pole allowed rain water inside that caused smoke after making contact with hot wires inside.

There was no structural damage and no power outages occurred. Lt. Mohr pointed out that there was no fire and there was no danger to the public.

Crews cleared the scene at around 9:45 AM.
