VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Spring planting is on hold due to the late snow melt overland flooding and water saturated soil in the region.

NDSU Barnes County Extension Educator Randy Grueneich said there may be more prevented planting acres this year but nothing like 2011.

He said some farmers may be planting more cover crops in the summer of 2019.

The USDA said April 28th is now the expected date that farmers on average may be able to get into the field in North Dakota.
