JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Stutsman County Commission heard the latest on North Dakota Wind Energy Tuesday afternoon.

Tammy Ibach, Director of North Dakotans for Comprehensive Energy Solutions (NDCES), informed the commission that they were representing landowners and developers who are engaged in wind energy across the state.

Ibach pointed out that Stutsman County is unique because they don’t have gas or coal development.

Ibach says they view commissioners as leaders and the source for information when questions arise concerning wind energy. According to Ibach, wind energy continues to make it’s mark in North Dakota.

Ibach says during the election two years ago, data was collected regarding wind energy in North Dakota.

Coal produces around 4,000 megawatts of energy, so wind energy remains competitive.

“The more energy we can generate, the more we can export to consumers across America. We want to be an exporter like we are in the Ag industry. The more we grow, the more we export and we want this to be the same for energy,” Ibach pointed out.

Robert Harms is a member of the North Dakota Legacy Committee. He says their primary goal in meeting with the commission was to provide them information.

There was no need to make a motion.
