TOLNA, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) On Thursday night, the Cardinals of Carrington traveled to Tolna for a Region 3 High School Baseball game to take on the Mustangs of Midkota/Griggs County Central/Dakota Prairie/Lakota, the Cardinals scored three runs in the top of the first inning and that proved to be all they needed as they get the victory 4-1. Carrington improves to 4-0 overall and 1-0 in the region, the Mustangs drop to 1-2 overall and 0-1 in the region.

Senior Lucas Geiszler picks up the victory on the mound, working four and two-thirds innings, one earned run and five strikeouts. Senior Kyle Leapaldt relieved him in the bottom of the fifth inning, allowing no runs and struck out four Mustang batters. Jake Avdem takes the loss, Cade Stein worked the seventh inning.

Next up for Carrington will be another Region 3 match up on Monday at New Rockford against the Blacksox of Sheyenne/NR, start time is 4:30pm, pregame on AM 1600/FM 100.1 KDAK the Cardinal and newsdakota.com about 4:20pm.
