JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Downtown Arts Market is set to return this summer after an outpouring of support following the inaugural event in 2018.

Jamestown Arts Center Executive Director Mindi Schmitz says the popular event was very successful.

Each Thursday, the Hansen Arts Park will host different vendors, artwork, music and more.

Schmitz says they have themes for each month starting June 6th.

“In June, our theme is ‘Cultural Kaleidoscope’,” Schmitz stated. “We’ll have West African Drumming, East Indian Dancing and more.”

July will feature local painters, songwriters, and polka dancing under the theme “Celebrate Sweethearts.” August will be “Community Favorites” and features blues, rock ‘n’ roll, and Dixieland music.

Schmitz says every Thursday will have something new, but follows the same formula. It makes every Arts Market unique for the community.

The Jamestown Arts Center received a $10,000 grant from North Dakota Tourism in 2018 that made the weekly festival possible. Schmitz says they don’t have that grant for this year and are seeking funding to ensure the weekly event can continue.

They are also seeking volunteers who can help with different parts of the event. The weekly event wraps up on August 29th.
