FARGO, N.D. (Newsdakota.com) – Hailey Schaefer nearly had a hand in all 21 outs in a dominant pitching performance as Valley City completed the doubleheader sweep over Fargo Davies with an 8-1 win in game two. The Hi-Liners took game one 13-3 in six innings.

In game two, Schaefer struck out a career high 18 batters. The longest streak was seven straight batters at one point. Davies scored first in the first on an rbi single by Liz Rogers. After that hit, Schaefer retired 14 straight batters, 11 on strikeouts. With two assists, Schaefer was in on 20 of the 21 outs.

Offensively, the Hi-Liners had 17 hits. Jessie Undem, Emma Mielke and Erin Anderson had three each. Grace Scherr and Sam Ranisate had two each as all nine starters had at least one. Scherr, Eliza Schueneman and Becca Thompson drove in two runs each.

In game one, all nine starters had one hit led by Grace Scherr with five. Emma Mielke had three hits and drove in five runs, three coming on a triple in a four run first. For the game the Hi-Liners had 19 hits.
Becca Thompson got the win in the circle. She allowed five hits and three earned runs in six innings. She walked three and struck out nine.

The seventh ranked Hi-Liners have won six games in a row and improve to 11-6 overall and 12-4 in the EDC. They are alone in third place in the conference with one week left in the season.
