CARRINGTON, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) In a back and forth contest on Monday afternoon, the Cardinals come back to beat the Wolves of Kidder County 8-6. Carrington improves to 12-4 overall and 6-0 in Region III, KC drops to 5-8 overall and 2-4 on Region III.

Junior Ty Biesterfeld hit a 3-run home run to right field in the top of the sixth inning to help the Wolves take the lead 5-4 over the Cardinals. Kyle Leapaldt would help the comeback in the bottom of the sixth as he hit a 2-run double, Nic Lyman had a bunt RBI single and Tyson Lee was walked with the bases loaded as the Cardinals scored four runs to take the lead for good, 8-5. KC would get a run back in the top of the seventh. Starting pitcher Ethan Buskness picks up the victory, Austin Trelstad worked two-thirds of an inning in the top of the seventh inning, then Buskness came back in to get the final out. Blake Pfaff takes the loss, after relieving starting pitcher Ross Schneider. Jayden Rath also worked a third of an inning in relief.

Next up for Carrington will be Tuesday at home against Hatton/Northwood starting at 430pm, KDAK and newsdakota.com will have coverage starting about 4:20pm.

The Region III tourney will start Monday, May 20th in Steele, here’s the first two games:

10am – No. 2 Sheyenne/New Rockford vs. No. 3 Kidder County

1230pm – No. 1 Carrington vs. No. 4 Midkota

Carrington is going for their fifth consecutive region title.
