VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Valley City School Board recognized several students for their outstanding accomplishments over the course of the 2018-2019 school year.

On Wednesday, May 15th several Junior and Senior High School Art students and Elementary Art students were honored for their state and national art awards.

Second grader, Zack Anderson is just one of many examples of the talent these Valley City Art student displayed during the school year. Anderson with support from his art teacher, Cheri Anderson, submitted his first entry into the North Dakota Duck Stamp Contest and won Honorable Mention. Zack received a certificate along with a ribbon and his artwork on May 15th and the artwork will be on tour across the state of North Dakota this year.

Over the years Valley City students have placed well in the North Dakota Jr. Duck Stamp competition. Since 2003 there have been six Best of Show Awards, six Best of Show Runner-up and five Conservation Message awards in the Valley City School District.

2019 Sydney Nelson – Best of Show Runner-up,  2017 DJ Elstrom – Best of Show Runner-up,  2016 Cassidy Fulton – Best of Show (State Champion),  2013 Destiny Winkler – Best of Show (State Champion),  2010 Alicia Rohde – Best of Show (State Champion), 2009 Alicia Rohde – Best of Show Runner-up,  2008 Tanner Morehouse – Best of Show Runner-up, 2008 Ashley Berg – Best of Show (State Champion), 2007 Megan Gilbertson – Best of Show (State Champion), 2006 Kaylee Callahan – Best of Show Runner-up, 2004 Chelsey Klinger – Best of Show (State Champion) and Top 10 in the Nation (Honorable Mention), and 2003 Aaron Didier – Best of Show Runner-up.

Conservation Message Winners:

2018 – Kesi McConnaughey (State Champion) One out of 1,184 entries.

2015 – Marielle Villarin,  2012 – Felicia Esch,  2010 – Keely Fogarty,  2009 – Lisa Jenson.
