VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Sadie Meissner’s double scored Rachel Woodley breaking a 3-3 tie and starting a four run fourth inning leading Jamestown to a 10-6 win over Valley City in game one of the season finale doubleheader for both teams at Tharaoldson Field in Valley City.

Ella Roaldson’s two-run single made it 6-3 and the eventual game winner came when Payton Gall singled to score McKenna Jackson to up the lead to 7-3.

The Hi-Liners scored three times in the second to take a 3-1 lead. Eliza Johnson had an rbi single in the inning and two runs scored on errors.

Grace Scherr, Johnson and Jessie Undem had two hits each for the Hi-Liners. Undem hit a solo home run to lead off the bottom of the seventh. Scherr had the other rbi for Valley City.

Roaldson led the Blue Jays with four hits, three rbi and three runs scored. Rachel Woodley had three hits and Alyssa Gange had two for the Jays.

In game two, Valley City broke open the game with four runs in the third and eight more in the fourth on the way to a 19-6 win. Grace Scherr led the 16 hit attack with 4. She scored four time and drove in three runs. Hailey Schaefer started the scoring with a three run homer in the bottom of the first. Schaefer had three hits and drove in four runs. Becca Thompson had three hits and drove in three runs.

Schaefer scattered six hits in five innings. She allowed three earned runs with two walks and 11 strikeouts to earn the win.

Payton Gall had two hits to lead the Jays.

The loss in game one snapped the Hi-Liners eight game winning streak. Valley City wraps up the regular season 14-7 overall and will be the #3 seed in the upcoming EDC Softball Tournament. They will host Grand Forks Red River on Tuesday at Tharaoldson Field, time to be announced. Jamestown ends the regular season 15-11 and will be the #6 seed in the WDA tournament. They will play either Minot or Dickinson in the quarterfinals on Thursday in Dickinson.
