BISMARCK, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The three-day Memorial Day weekend is the unofficial beginning of summer and water recreation activities.

North Dakota Game & Fish is encouraging all those who may be spending some time of the water this weekend and all summer to make sure water safety is at the top of the list. Game & Fish Biologist Doug Leier says a good start is life jackets.

Leier says those rules and regulations are required, but everyone should wear life jackets in all water recreation activities.

Leier says if you get rained out of your outdoor activities over the weekend, be sure to sign up for your deer application online. The deadline is set June 5th.

You can listen to Doug Leier every Thursday at 7:20 AM on Big Dog Country 95.5 FM with JD in the Morning.
