After a hard-fought battle with mesothelioma cancer over the last 9 months, Duane (76) passed away peacefully on May 29, 2019 surrounded by his loving family.  His love for his wife, Sandra, and pride for their two children, Patton and Dixcee, was clear to all.

Duane always enjoyed visiting with family and friends.  This was evident up until the end as he reminisced with all who came to support his final journey.  He was a mentor and good friend to many.  He was also known for his intellect, problem solving and uncanny way of bringing out the best in those around him.  Duane had a passion for teaching, engineering, construction and fishing.  His numerous visionary contributions to the advancement of physical therapy equipment and research will be a long-lasting testament to his creativity, sense of design and ability to engineer simple solutions to complex problems.  Duane received recognition and many awards during his lifetime for these attributes and contributions.

Duane enjoyed gatherings with friends and family that fishing provided. He particularly enjoyed boating and visiting with his lake family at Long Lake, Park Rapids. Duane loved attending the Bison football games with Sandra and they supported them at each National FCS Championship game.

Duane was preceded in death by parents (Laverne and Viola) and twin-brother (Dennis).  He is survived by Sandra, Patton (Gina), Dixcee (Doug), grandchildren: Landry, Zoe and Archie; brother: Paul, step-mother: Viola and loving nieces and nephews.
