MINOT, N.D. (Newsdakota.com) – Hailey Schaefer struck out the four batters she faced and seven of the first nine and Grace Scherr reached base five times as the two All-EDC players led Valley City to a 10-3 win over Dickinson in the quarterfinals of the State Class A Softball Tournament in Minot.

Scherr had four hits, scored twice and drove in three runs to lead the offense. She also walked and stole three bases to lead the offense. Schaefer added two hits and drove in two runs for the Hi-Liners. Eliza Schueneman, Emma Mielke, Sam Ranisate and Erin Anderson all had two hits for Valley City who had 14 as a team. Ranisate had scored three times and Becca Thompson had three rbi.

In the circle, Schaefer went seven innings, she allowed seven hits, three earned runs. She walked one and struck out 14.

Dickinson scored all three of its runs in the sixth. Taya Hopfauf led off the inning with a home run and Reese Hauck added a 2-run single later in the inning.
