JAMESTOWN, N.D. (JDA) – The Jamestown Downtown Association held the 5th Annual Rods & Hogs and Things that go VROOM!! Saturday, June 8th on 1st Avenue Jamestown.

The event featured Classic Cars, Trucks, Bikes and Rat Rods as well as displays by Buffalo City Karting, Jamestown Shrine Clowns and Don Wilhelm Chevy, Buick, GMC.

The Goter family brought their Sweet Dreams Mini-Donuts truck as well as their food truck with burgers, hot dogs and the new “Hog on a Rod”, better known as a pork chop on a stick. The New Hope Church Youth had baked goods and a walking taco fundraiser, and the Jamestown Mystics had their Root Beer Floats for sale as well.

The Cone Walk for kids under 12, sponsored by Unison Bank was held after a rain delay at 2 pm, followed shortly thereafter by the first annual Outhouse Races sponsored by the James Valley Street Machines.

Due to an impending weather event, judging was conducted early and prizes were awarded inside the Corner Bar.

The Best Bike Trophy and $200 Cash, sponsored by the Stutsman Harley Davidson went to Carl Nannenga with his 2005 Thunder Mountain Blackhawk 240. 2nd place and $100 cash to Mike Guthmiller with a 2006 Harley Davidson Springer Softail and 3rd place and $50 cash to Rick Mickelson.

There was a 3 way tie for votes between the judges for 3rd place and all the cars had left to beat the storm, so the decision was made to not award a 3rd place.

The Best Rat Rod Trophy and $200 Cash, sponsored by West End Hide, Fur and Metal and Kleins Collision Center was judged to Mike Oster and his 1934 Oldsmobile 3 Window Coupe. 2nd place and $100 cash went to Scott Anderson with his 1946 Chevy Fleetline.
