JAMESTOWN, N.D. (KFYR) – A 73-year-old Jamestown man faces terrorizing charges after authorities say he fired shots at a Burlington Northern Santa Fe train on Friday.

Stutsman County Sheriff Chad Kaiser says the BNSF crew called in a report of shots fired at a moving train near Bloom, just east of Jamestown at around 9:00 p.m. Deputies confronted the suspect, who said he was firing shots into the air, not at the train.

A photo sent from the BNSF crew to deputies showed a bullet hole in the side of the train. When deputies went back to the suspect’s house, there was no answer.

Deputies got a search warrant and arrested the man without incident. The train crew was not injured.

The suspect is being held at the Stutsman County Jail awaiting formal charges.
