JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – A Jamestown man is facing charges of reckless endangerment after he allegedly fired a gun inside a residence early Wednesday morning.

The Jamestown Police Department was called our just before 1 AM to do a welfare check on a possible suicidal male.

“The reporting party indicated the male did have weapons inside his home and had made threats of violence toward Law Enforcement, if they tried to contact him,” Major Justin Blinsky reports.

An officer arrived on scene and witnessed a shot being fired inside the residence. Additional law enforcement was called in to help resolve the incident.

“During this time, the male suspect left his residence and walked to a nearby building. A Jamestown Police Officer witnessed the suspect hiding in a dimly lit area along the 500 block of 4 Ave SE,” Major Blinsky pointed out.

24 year-old Garrett Johnson was taken into custody and was found to be armed with a loaded handgun. He’s facing charges of suspicion of carrying a concealed weapon, discharging a weapon within city limits, and Reckless Endangerment. He was taken to the JRMC for further evaluation.

Initial investigations have found two shots had been fired inside the home during the incident. The Jamestown Police Department was assisted by the Stutsman County Sheriff’s Office.
