commission

JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – In May, the Stutsman County Commission was once again approached about joining a class-action settlement case in regards to the opioid epidemic.

In 2018, former North Dakota State Senator Curtis Olafson and Dallas-based Attorney Jonathan Novak came before the commission to give them the opportunity to join the ongoing Opioid Litigation with several others in the U.S.

Stutsman County State’s Attorney Fritz Fremgen told the commission that time was limited to join the litigation. He says they acknowledged that there was no need to have tracked date concerning the case for the county.

Chairman Mark Klose stated that his concern was the possibility of extra work for the staff if they joined the litigation.

Commissioner Denny Ova moved to not join the litigation. The decision was approved unanimously.
