FARGO, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Freedom Resource Center for Independent Living will be hosting an open house at its Fargo office on July 26 to celebrate 30 years working for disability rights.

Freedom Resource Center began in the Fargo-Moorhead area in 1989. Since then, it has grown to four branch offices located in Jamestown, Lisbon, Wahpeton/Breckenridge and Fergus Falls. The event is also in honor of the signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act on July 26, 1990. It will include a ribbon-cutting by The Chamber Ambassadors at 11 am, a food truck, and light refreshments in the office.

Freedom Resource Center’s mission is to provide services that increase independence for people with disabilities. Its vision is: People with disabilities are equal and valued participants in society. Freedom has made a tremendous difference in the quality of life for hundreds of people in the region over the last 30 years.

Freedom offers people with disabilities an opportunity to be fully integrated, productive, valued members of their communities. Its philosophy is to expect people to make their own life decisions and hold themselves accountable for the outcome. Freedom also works to create a more inclusive and accessible society.

The Fargo office is located at 2701 9th Ave. S. and the event will run from 11 am – 2 pm.
