JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Jeremy and Sarah Wilson, 2018 North Dakota Leopold Conservation Award® recipients, will be featured during the Leopold Conservation Award Tour from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 8, at the Wilson Farm near Jamestown. Tour topics include cover crops, no-till land practices, nutrient and pest management, diverse cropping systems and community outreach.

The Wilsons focus on holistically managing all of their ecological, economic and social resources. They recognize the importance of soil as a resource to the productivity to their family farm. They use no-till practices and technology to maximize production and increase sustainability. Their innovations have led other producers in the area to adopt soil health management systems. The Wilsons have constructed a room in their home equipped with audio and video equipment so they can share their expertise with other farmers and the public.

The Aug. 8 tour is open to the public and lunch will be provided. An RSVP is required for the tour at https://2019leopoldtour.eventbrite.com by Wednesday, July 31.

Tour participants are encouraged to dress appropriately for the weather and walking and to bring water and bug spray.

The North Dakota Leopold Conservation Award® honors North Dakota landowner achievement in voluntary stewardship and management of natural resources and is presented by the Sand County Foundation, in partnership with the North Dakota Grazing Lands Coalition, North Dakota Association of Soil Conservation Districts and North Dakota Stockmen’s Association.
