JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The North Dakota Patriot Guard will be hosting their 13th annual Friends 4 ND Vets in Jamestown August 16th & 17th.

The Patriot Guard attends funeral services of fallen American heroes as invited guests of the family. They show support for the heroes, families, and their communities. When necessary, they also act as a barrier or shield for the mourning family and friends from protestors. They do so through legal and non-violent means.

The annual ride is held not only for remembrance, but also to celebrate life and those who have served our country.

Co-organizer Cindy Sabinash says anyone can be a part of the NDPG.

Because the organization operates as a non-profit and is comprised of all volunteers, co-organizer Laurie Hayes says the event raises money for what they do and for what they support.

The steak fry supper will begin at 6 PM with a social at 5 PM. There will be raffles, silent auction, and live music that evening at the Jamestown Civic Center.

The following day will be the memorial ride, which Sabinash says began in memory of troops who were deployed. Hayes says they keep the ride going each year.

Sabinash says they’ve been able to raise money for several different things over the years.

The ride is open to the public. Whether you’re part of a club, the public, or just want to ride in a people mover, you can join on August 17th with registration beginning at 9 AM.

A highlight of the ride is a visit to the North Dakota Veterans Hospital in Lisbon. Before the ride, there will be a freewill pancake breakfast.
