EDGELEY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The undefeated Oakes Tornadoes have pushed their winning streak to 36 consecutive sets won to begin the 2019 season after last night’s win over Edgeley/Kulm/Montpelier.

Set one went completley in favor of Oakes as they took the opening set 25-8. Oakes scored 11 of the first 13 points and it included three aces from Jaida Seyer.

Set two was close through through the first 20 points. It was EKM that got off to a quick start as they scored four of the first five points to open up a lead. Oakes had to play catch up until they took the lead at 11-10 and would hold the lead the remainder of the second set. Nicole Schmitz recorded 12 of her 13 kills through the first two sets. Oakes would hang on 25-17.

Set three went in quick fashion as Oakes took it 25-14 and completed the sweep in less than an hour. The Tornadoes are now 16-0 and have won 36 consecutive sets to begin the season. Their next time out is this Saturday as they participate in the Valley City Optimist Tournament. Oakes will be grouped with Shiloh Christian, Barnes County North, and Park River/Fordville-Lankin.
