JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The first building of its kind in Jamestown, UJ Place will provide housing for students at the University of Jamestown as well as added retail options that will benefit the Northeast part of the community.

UJ Place is located across from Harold Newman Arena at 7th Street and 12th Street NE at 1100 7th Street NE. It will have over 13,000 square feet of commercial space and house 112 student beds.

On Monday, the University of Jamestown and EPIC Companies held a brief presentation on UJ Place and its need in the community. McKenzy Olson, VP of Marketing and Public Relations for EPIC Company, pointed out the benefits of the new building once its completed in the Fall of 2020.

Currently, the company is leasing the lower level to local companies before opening it up to others. Right now, there is one company set to lease a commercial space.

Amy Hass, EPIC Company Senior Vice President, stated they were excited to bring a multi-use building to Jamestown and the campus.

University of Jamestown Dean of Engagement & Student Affairs Dustin Jensen pointed out that students have been at the heart of the decision at what they wanted to see in UJ Place.

University of Jamestown President Dr. Polly Peterson reported that there was a handful of students who currently live off-campus because they are at capacity with housing.

Following a speech by Jamestown Mayor Dwaine Heinrich, a groundbreaking was held that included members of the Jamestown Area Chamber of Commerce.
