OAKES, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Head Coach Greg Dobitz said it best last night. Oak Grove was put in a tough spot because Oakes was coming off a loss and took their frustration out on the Grovers Friday night.

Setting a season high in points and a season low in points allowed, Oakes defeated Oak Grove 55-0.

The Oakes defense set the tone on the first drive of the game when they forced a three and out and blocked the punt. Steele Hansen scooped and scored to give Oakes a 7-0 lead.

Logan Sell had a monster day rushing. He had rushing touchdowns of 6, 74, 6 and 5 yards in a day he finished with well over 100 yards.

Garret Meehl could have had four touchdowns of his own if not for penalties. Meehl still finished with a 16 yard touchdown run and a 46 yard punt return for a score, but he had a two yard sneak and a pick 6 erased from penalties as well.

The phantom touchdowns didn’t matter though as the 2nd half was in running clock making it an abbreviated half number two. Oakes got their backups in to see some valuable time, and backup quarterback Xavier Vossler found Adler Paeper for their first career varsity touchdowns.

Oakes rolled to 5-1 with two games to go. Next week, the Tornadoes travel to Northern Cass next week to take on the Jaguars.
