JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Kiwanis International is all about serving the children of the world.

On October 26th, the Jamestown Kiwanis Club will be packaging meals that will serve those children and their families.

Kiwanis Against Hunger is a meal-packaging event that puts together cost-effective, nutritious meals that go to hungry families in North Dakota and Moorhead, Minnesota.

Kiwanis member Katie Ryan-Anderson says they raise money to purchase ingredients and volunteers come out to help assemble the meal packages.

Kiwanis member Michelle Watne says the highly nutritious meals can feed two people and make a big difference.

Each meal cost 25 cents and can feed thousands. The club hopes to raise $15,000 and package 60,000 meals this year. Ryan-Anderson says they have a donor willing to match the club’s fundraising efforts.

Watne says over the past eight years, the support from community members, clubs, and donors has meant a lot to the Kiwanis club and their mission.

If you want to donate to the club for Kiwanis Against Hunger, you can mail checks to:

You can also drop off donations at First Community Credit Union. You’re welcome to volunteer as a club or yourself during the packaging October 26th at Stutsman Harley Davidson from 9 AM to 12 PM.

Kiwanis is also always looking for new members. You can attend a meeting if you’re interested. They meet every Monday at Noon at the Quality Inn & Suites.
